Ilisu Village
This village is one of the top tourist attractions of Azerbaijan and stands number one in Gakh. The village of Ilisu fully justifies being the incredible place in Gakh. It is a mountain village located at an altitude of 1400-1600 meters above sea level, 12 km from the city of Gakh. Around the village there are several thermal sulfuric springs. Thousands of people come here to get treatment and admire the stunningly beautiful nature, which includes a fabulous forest, waterfalls and raging rivers. Two rivers flow near the village: the Garachay (black river) and the Agchay (white river), which were named according to the shade of their waters. Having forded the Garachay, you will be able to admire the garachay waterfall falling from it. Due to the fact that the waterfall is located in an inaccessible place, the nature around is very beautiful. The waterfall consists of steps. The higher the level, the more aggressive the waterfall becomes. Not every tourist can go up to the 4th step, but the locals reach sometimes the sixth and seventh steps. However they say that no one has yet reached the very last one. In Ilisu, it is also worth visiting the waterfall Ram-rama. Being 75 meters high, this waterfall is considered the highest in Azerbaijan. It is formed by Mountain Rivers of the region and its water is therefore icy even in summer. In very cold winter season the waterfalls are frozen.
